Letter to State Geologist David Wunsch Gordon S. Jackson, President P. O. Box 600 Canterbury, NH 03224-0600 March 20, 2004 David R. Wunsch, Ph.D., State Geologist New Hampshire Geological Survey NH Department of Environmental Services P. O. Box 95 Concord, NH 03302-0095 Dear Mr. Wunsch: The Capital Mineral Club appreciates your attendance at our board meeting, and I am writing in response to our discussion about participating in a mineral display with the State. First, I should mention that there have been several years of discussion and dreaming of a state museum of natural history among our members and others - so a proposal to develop a mineral display in the atrium of the Environmental Services building is seen as a step in the right direction. As I mentioned, the Club would certainly be willing to develop a loan system for minerals through our members to help make a State display a reality. We would also be will to participate in the construction of a mineral case, or cases, though the extent of our ability to participate in this would depend on the nature and size of the proposed display area, though I am sure additional funds could be secured. We would also want to be involved in a maintenance system that would keep any display current, attractive and interesting. I believe we would need to see some agreement between you and the Club regarding ownership of minerals and provisions for their security. New Hampshire has a rich mineral and mining history that should be preserved and made available to the people of New Hampshire, its school children and tourist. We are very interested in working with you to make this happen. Again, thank you for joining us at our board meeting. We look forward to hearing more detail about the proposed display. Sincerely, Gordon S. Jackson, President Capital Mineral Club Concord, New Hampshire
