These are the minutes of the November 12th ,  2005 meeting of the Capital Mineral Club.

The meeting was held in the all purpose room of the Salvation Army Building on Clinton  Street in Concord,  NH.

The meeting was called to order by president Scott Higgins at 7:30 PM.  There were 22 members present and four guests,  Wally Bothner, Jo Laird, Bob Keller and Ali Jacob.

The secretary’s report was accepted as printed in the newsletter.  The treasurer’s

report was read and accepted.

 

Old Business:  Field trip to Ruggles Mine was covered by Scott Higgins.  Future trips to this mine and other underground mines was brought up by Bob Whitmore.  The show committee report was presented by Charles Forsberg.  The Sunapee show for 2006 was voted upon and passed. By-law changes were presented by Bob Whitmore for the new VP duties, a limited non-budgeted expenses to $200 and a change in voting during meeting to at least 15 club members present.  Discussion was had with written notification to be in the January newsletter with the final vote to be at January’s meeting. A Speaker Committee forming motion was made by Steffen Hermanns which passed.  Bob Whitmore motioned for a Scholarship Committee to be formed which also passed.

 

New  Business:  Suzanne Wall was voted in as a new member.  Dues Fee amounts and categories were discussed for next year.  Full membership with all field trip and club activities  privileges was changed to Adult $10 per year / Family $15 per year.  A new subscriber membership which allows for the newsletter to be sent was set at $5 per year or a one time email setup charge of $2.  This new category saves on the yearly insurance charge to the club since these members wouldn’t attend field trips or other club meetings, but wish to stay in contact with the club via the newsletter.

 

Scott Higgins  supplied this month’s refreshments.

 

The door prize was won by  Charles Forsberg,  a Fluorapophyllite / Prehnite from

Centerville, Virginia.

 

This months speakers were professors Wally Bothner and Jo Laird both from UNH Durham.  They presented a talk on the past and current  geological mapping that’s been done for the state.  With emphasis on current new mapping being done by past Capital Mineral Club Scholarship winners highlighted. Quality geological sites were shown from NH and the New England area.
