THE CAPITAL MINERAL CLUB’S BEST AUTHOR

As mentioned in the December 2001 newsletter, the Capital Mineral Club was going to try

having a best article contest. Any submissions had to be self written by a club member and relate

to the hobby. It was hope that this would bring new and varied articles that might normally not

make it into a local club’s newsletter. The winner to be voted by the club’s members would have

their choice of one year’s subscription to their favorite magazine ( Rock & Mineral, Mineralogical

Record, etc.) or a club sweatshirt. The following is the list of this year’s entries:

December 2001                    MASCOT MUSINGS by Bob Janules

January 2002                        THE HISTORY OF THE DECEMBER MEETING

                                               by Gordon Jackson

February 2002                      THE HOBBY by Bill Brown

March 2002

April 2002                             GOFFSTOWN - GOLD, SILVER, AQUAMARINE AND

MAYBE EVEN DIAMONDS! by Vincent Valade

May 2002

September  2002                  WHITE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL FOREST

PLAN REVISION by Pat Berry Barker

October 2002

November 2002

December 2002                   THE LAST HURRAH by Patricia Barker

At the January meeting slips will be past out for your vote on the Capital Mineral

Club’s Best Author 2002. If you can’t attend this meeting and still wish to vote - you must

either e-mail Robin and Steffen at redgewood@attbi.com or steffenh@attbi.com

write to them at:

Robin Edgewood-Reece

Editor

7133 Oak Hill Road

Loudon, NH 03307

Deadline for all e-mails or mailed in votes will be the January 2003 meeting. If your

attending please vote at the meeting. Copies of these articles will be on hand to review.

As you can see - there were several months with no entries. Plenty of room for your

story this coming year. So past the winter non-collecting time by writing an article for your

newsletter and possibly winning a year of your favorite magazine or a club sweatshirt. Remember

must be a self written hobby related article by a club member to count. Please submit all 2003

entries to Robin Edgewood-Reece (Editor) at the above addresses.
