These are the minutes of the February 12th,  2005  meeting of the Capital Mineral Club.

The meeting was held in the all purpose room of the Salvation Army Building on Clinton Street in Concord,  New Hampshire.

The meeting was called to order by president Gordon Jackson at 1:00 PM.  There were 35 members present.

The last month's  secretary’s report was accepted as printed in the newsletter.  The treasurer’s report with a show update was read and accepted.

Old Business:  "Best of Show" plaques along with club sweatshirt and hat prizes were handed out to contest winners Jim Tovey, Dana Jewell and Bill Brown who accepted for Brian Bissonnette.

Gordon Jackson brought up the UNH Scholarship of $1,500 in honor of Lincoln Page.

Jim Tovey brought up the notion that the annual scholarship be open other NH colleges like Keene State College.  Jim Hawkes made a motion to accept for this year  the UNH proposal as mentioned in the February newsletter.  Frances Gill made a motion to study the potential of considering including Keene and/or Plymouth State Colleges in the scholarship in the future.  And an additional motion was made to add $500 for a Keene scholarship this year to be mentioned in the newsletter.  The board will review options available to the club.

New Business:  Gordon Jackson brought up the March 26th South Eastern Mineral Club show and gathering will be at the Veteran's Hall in Dover.  And he also mentioned the workshop being planned for the March meeting of the Capital Mineral Club at his home.  This year we will have a new "Sell & Trade" event included.  A chance to share your treasures with other members.

This month’s refreshments were supplied by Bea & Howard Ewing.

The door prizes were won by Peter Cram, Bea Ewing, Jim Young, Howard Ewing and

John McCrory with some of the raffle prizes being donated by Mike Normandin and Mike Undercofler.

This month’s speaker was Jim Young on "Feldspars of New Hampshire".  Family members and chemical make-ups were discussed between the two major groups.  The environments, associations, crystal formations, and temperature at formation was covered.  There were many samples on the member's table brought in by Jim and a few others.  Jim did a great job answering all our feldspar questions!

Respectfully submitted,
