These are the minutes of the February 12th,  2006 meeting of the Capital Mineral Club.

The meeting was held in the all purpose room of the Salvation Army Building on Clinton Street in Concord, New Hampshire.

The meeting was called to order by president, Scott Higgins at 1:00 PM.  There were 30 members present.

The secretary’s report was accepted as printed in the newsletter.  The treasurer’s report was read and accepted.  Don Dallaire’s report included the 2005 Show Final and the 2006 Budget.

Old Business:  Scott Higgins mentioned the upcoming June 10th Palermo Cookout and Family Day.  The Show Committee was discussed by Charles Forsberg.  The Scholarship Committee was covered by Bob Whitmore and Jim Tovey.  The Guideline and Form letter was shown and a motion was made and passed to have the committee proceed with using these to determine this season’s recipient.  The By-law changes printed in this month’s newsletter were voted upon by the attending club members and passed.

New Business:  Scott  reviewed future local shows.  The New England Forestry Foundation letter, with regards to  mineral collecting, was discussed.  Bob and Audrey, on the auditing committee, presented the Treasure’s books to be reviewed.  Gordon Jackson brought up the pending show location, the Everett Arena, which has just opened up for the 2007 season.  A motion was made and passed that a deposit to hold the arena for this date for 6 months, be made, while the show committee reviews the options.  No club changes for the April or May meetings were made, even with the Maine and Rochester, NY symposiums date conflicts.  The March meeting at the Jackson’s was discussed.  A presentation of the Christmas Party Awards was made, with Bill Brown and James Tovey receiving their awards.

Natalie and Mike Undercofler supplied this month’s refreshments.  The door prizes were won by  Tom Weatherby, Frances Gill, Don Dallaire, Martin Kippley, Edna Whitmore and Anna Wilken.

This month’s speaker was Bill Brown., a long time club member and gem stone faceter.  Bill, using actual equipment from his lab, described and showed the process used in turning a rough chuck of gem stock into a finished facetted stone.  Many finished gem stones were on display and many of the club member’s questions were answered.

Respectfully submitted,
