March Club Meeting Announcement

The March 11th, 2005 meeting of the CMC will be held at the home of Gordon and Pam Jackson.  The time will be 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  This will be a workshop, much the same as last year.

The Snow Date will be Sunday the 12th.

The workshop will involve mineral preparation, trimming, cleaning, displaying, etc.  Show and tell is always welcomed and appreciated, in fact, encouraged.  Anyone is welcomed to bring lapidary equipment.  If this is your interest, give others a call to make sure this happens.  Otherwise, it will be on the mineral collecting side and the social aspects of the hobby, which is a must, so bring your stories and smiles.

Steffen Hermanns is going to set up his glass bead blasting cabinet and air scribe trimmer.  Anyone bringing equipment should probably come a little earlier so you can set up in a relaxed atmosphere.

Pam will supply refreshments – crackers, cheese, peanut / dried fruit mix and coffee throughout the day.  The diehard coffee drinker might want to bring his or her own special coffee cup.  There will also be decaf. coffee available.  Also, soda, water and coffee will be provided for lunch   The rest of lunch will be a  POT LUCK Please bring a Main dish, Salad, or Desert.  You can call to say what your bringing or take your chances but IF EVERYTHING GOES PERFECT, WE WILL ALL BRING DESERT!!! :)

This year we are going to have some tables setup for club members to buy, sell, trade or giveaway some of their finds,  also we will be holding a silent auction that will end at 11:15am just before lunch.  So bring some of the extra stuff you collected and see what you can get for it.

If you have a thumbnail specimen in a perky that you are willing to part with, bring it and after lunch we will have a raffle.  If you have a mineral – collecting friend or someone who might be interested in the hobby bring them along.

THE DAY IS TO HAVE FUN!!!!

Gordon Jackson has met with the Everett Arena people and was told they will hold the last week of September for 2007 and beyond until July 1, 2006.  Besides easy access, the Arena provides about 6 times the traffic flow and a vastly larger population base.  The Arena will hold more dealers along with wholesale all on one floor with easy setup and take down.  Since a change in location would require additional coordination and expense such as a new electrical set-up, etc., the sooner a decision is made on whether to make the move or not the better.  We have over the years looked at new locations, i.e. Gunstock, Hopkinton, Manchester Armory, and the Grappone Center. None has as much to offer the Club as the Everett Arena and a workable date is also hard to come by.  There are only three meetings by the time you read this until July 1, 2006. Hopefully we can decide at the April meeting, but must have a yes or no at the May meeting. A possible motion would be to move the Sunapee Gem and Mineral Festival to the Everett Arena the last week in September and call the new show the Capital Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Festival.
