These are the minutes of the October 18th, 2003 meeting of the Capital Mineral Club.

The meeting was held in the all purpose room of the Salvation Army Building on Clinton Street in Concord, New Hampshire.

The meeting was called to order by President, Gordon Jackson at 7:30 PM. There were 34 members and 4 guests present, Terry Crowell & Annette Comeau and our guest speaker, Dr. Steve Chamberlain and his wife Helen.

The Secretary's report was accepted as printed in the newsletter. The Treasurer's report was read and accepted.

Old Business:

Gordon Jackson kept the business meeting part of tonight short to allow time for our guest speaker. John McCrory gave a show report. There was some discussion concerning moving the annual CMC show to another location due to a potentially large increase in the rent for the Mt. Sunapee site.

New Business:

Three new members were voted into the club - Terry Crowell and Annette Comeau of Bristol, NH

and Mary Jane Kwist of Gilford, NH.

This month's refreshments were supplied by Jon Herndon.

The door prizes were won by Terry Crowell, Diane Francis, LuAnne, Janet Breton, Pat Barker and Howard Ewing.

A special guest speaker, Dr. Steve Chamberlain of Syracuse University, NY, attended the October meeting of the CMC. His presentation covered the "Minerals of St. Lawrence County, NY". The geology covering different rock types and their accompanying minerals and mines were part of the presentation. With the use of slides and his casual humor, Dr. Chamberlain gave us some enlightening mineralogical information about a county just outside of New England. Having both Dr. Chamberlain and Dr. Carl Francis present for this meeting made it possible to have some questions expertly answered on some display material brought in by members.

Respectfully submitted,

Vincent Valade
