These are the minutes of October 16, 2004 meeting of the Capital Mineral Club.

 

The meeting was held in the all purpose room of the Salvation Army Building on Clinton Street, Concord, NH.

 

The meeting was called to order by president, Gordon Jackson at 7:35 PM.  There were 25 members and two guests present.

 

The treasurer’s report was read and accepted. The May secretary’s report was approved as written.

The September secretary’s report was amended to reflect “$300.00 to the Salvation Army as a donation for the use of there facilities was approved.”

 

OLD BUSINESS:  There was none.

 

NEW BUSINESS: Audrey Silva of Laconia was made a member of the Club.

The December meeting was discussed and a sign up sheet was passed around.

The Christmas party needs a chairman.

The Show was discussed and the membership voted to have a show next year.  Other locations for the show were briefly mentioned.

 

Scott Higgins brought up the possibility of the Club purchasing a property with an exposed pegmatite.  The property is a 13.6 acre site in Unity, NH.  Martin Kippley made a motion to have the Board investigate the possibility of acquiring the parcel which was approved by the membership.  The Treasurer is to review the monies of the Club and there availability towards the possibility of purchasing the property.

 

There will be a Board and Show meeting Saturday at 10 AM with a pizza lunch at Gordon Jackson’s house.

 

This month’s refreshments were supplied by Jon Herndon.  Jon made sure the coffee spigot was turned off before the water was pored into the urn.

Thanks go to Jon who has made coffee for almost every meeting. THANK YOU!!!

 

There were four door prizes, Mark Chamberlin, Gordon Graham, Brian Bissonnette, and Scott Higgins.

 

Steffen Hermanns was the speaker for the evening, talking on what vacationing in Arizona can be like.  His talk centered on the northern Arizona area.  Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam, Bryce Canyon, Utah, Hopi ruins, and Flagstaff, Arizona were the main areas.
