These are the minutes of the October 15th , 2005 meeting of the Capital Mineral Club.

The meeting was held in the all purpose room of the Salvation Army Building on  Clinton  Street in Concord,  NH.

The meeting was called to order by president Scott Higgins at 7:30 PM.  There were 15 members present and one guest,  Eric Cadieux. The secretary’s report was accepted as printed in the newsletter.  The treasurer’s report was read and accepted. A preliminary show income was given.

New  Business:  Eric Cadieux was voted in as a new club member.

Steffen  Hermanns  supplied this month’s refreshments.

The door prizes were won by  Eric Cadieux, Vince Valade, Gordon Jackson, Rosanne Comeau and Kathy Dallaire.

In lieu of a speaker this month the club discussed budget, scholarship, show and future activities topics.  With insurance cost of $600 and a mailing of newsletter cost of $500 compared to a dues income of $500, club membership rates were brought up.

Charles Forsberg made a recommendation to change dues to a $10/$15 level.  Listing the Club as a non-profit organization in the flyer was mentioned.

Steffen Hermanns made a motion to publish the club by-laws on the website. This was accepted.

A motion was made to hold the festival on October 14 & 15 next year.  This was tabled for vote on the November meeting.

With a growing club membership, many by mail only,  a new problem may develop.  The attendance at a meeting may not have the required percentage of membership to complete business during voting as laid out in the by-laws.  Another issue discussed was UNH’s roll-over of our scholarship gift this year due to lack of an appropriate candidate.

Scott Higgins put out forming of committees for several purposes: scholarships,  fieldtrips and membership.

Controls with our  scholarship were discussed by Bob Whitmore.  Don Dallaire brought up expanding into elementary schools with our scholarship program with additional programs to help educate young students.  The upcoming budget will be covered in January.  Bob Whitmore suggested moving the ceiling to $200 on non-budget proposals and Scott recommended that Bob submit a written proposal on an amendment to the by-laws.  The upcoming trip to Ruggles Mine was mentioned.

Respectfully submitted,

Vincent Valade
