These are the minutes of the September 13th , 2003 meeting of the Capital Mineral Club.

The meeting was held in the all purpose room of the Salvation Army Building on Clinton Street in Concord, New Hampshire.

The meeting was called to order by president, Gordon Jackson at 7:30PM. There were 32 members present.

The secretary's report was accepted as printed in the newsletter. The treasurer's report was read and accepted.

 

Old Business: Retiring president Bill Brown formally introduced the club's new president Gordon Jackson.

The rest of this year's officers are:

V.P. - Scott Higgins

Treasurer - Don Dallaire

Secretary - Vince Valade

Director (2002-2004) - Steffen Hermanns

Director (2001-2003) - Jon Herndon

Auditor (2002-2004) - Dave Sheldon

Gordon Jackson passed out the refreshment sign sheet. John McCrory and Vince Valade gave show updates covering dealers, advertising and show help needed. Martin Kippley and Gordon Jackson covered the Eden Mills, Vermont trip the weekend of (Sept. 20th & 21st). Bill Brown brought up NEFTA cards for the various field trips and it was decided that club members should see a club officer if they wish a card.

 

New Business: The Nashua Mineral Society will be having a mineral sale Sunday, September 14th, at the Hollis Flea Market Rt. 122 from 8 am to 2 pm. About 300 local specimens will be offered. Conrad Chapman has about 50 cases of Clayton Ford's minerals for sale (mostly micro's and some lapidary equipment). Pat Barker brought up the up coming Saco Mineral Club's annual auction September 20th. Next month's club meeting will be the third Saturday instead of the second due to our Sunapee Show which will be held on Columbus Day weekend. Dr. Chamberlin of New York will be the guest speaker - a must attend meeting! The following new members were voted in: Matt Butler, Gordon Kempe, Lee Champigny and Mark & Cassandra Chamberlin.

 

This month's refreshments were supplied by Gordon Jackson.

 

The door prizes were won by Charles Forsberg, Howard Ewing, Britany Graham, Steffen Hermanns, Fred Manseau and Vince Valade.

The month's meeting had a display and short talk presentation on some of the summer's collecting trips. Pat Barker talked about her Bancroft, Canada trip. Janet Breton talk about Nova Scotia. And Gordon Jackson mentioned the Dunbarton quartz locality.

During the refreshment / social part of the meeting we had our second annual Club Auction. There were many fine minerals donated as well as some home bakery and mineral magazines.
