These are the minutes of the May 1st, 2004 meeting of the Capital Mineral Club. The meeting was held in the all purpose room of the Salvation Army Building on Clinton Street in Concord, New Hampshire. The meeting was called to order by president, Gordon Jackson at 7:30 PM. There were 29 members present. The last month's acting secretary’s report by Pam Jackson was accepted as printed in the newsletter. The treasurer’s report was read and accepted.
Old Business: NEFTA field trip list was passed around. Auditors report will be postponed until the September meeting. Perky and miniature plastic boxes were received from Shannon Minerals and made available to club members.
New Business: Edna Whitmore was presented a special club logo embroidered hat for her many years of club service with an added club constitutional law that Bob Whitmore not be able to purchase one. The club voted and accepted the slate of officers for the coming year. The June 12th Palermo field trip was covered by Steffen Hermanns. Pat Barker mentioned this coming weekend's Topsfield Show. Show flyers were discussed by Gordon Jackson and Jon Herndon. Scott Higgins mentioned his list of extra Rock & Mineral magazines available.
This month’s refreshments were supplied by Gordon and Heidi Graham.
The door prizes were won by Sheryl Ryder, Mike Normandin, John McCrory, Dave Shelton, Martin Kippley and Ashley Kippley.
This month’s speaker was Don Dallaire on Michigan Copper. Don presented a slide talk about his trip to Michigan collecting specimens and visiting museums. Various mines were shown and a huge copper nugget (boulder). Members got a feel for the local and mining history.
