These are the minutes of the September 10th , 2005 meeting of the Capital Mineral Club.  The meeting was held in the all purpose room of the Salvation Army Building on Clinton Street in Concord, NH.

The meeting was called to order by president Scott Higgins at 7:30 PM.  There were 25 members present.

The secretary’s report was accepted as printed in the newsletter.  The treasurer’s

report was tabled till the next meeting due to his absence.

Old  Business: Charles Forsberg presented a show update highlighted by our new show flyers. Discussions about volunteer help needed, barbeque grills, Mt. Sunapee’s involvement and show signing were also had.  Scott Higgins mentioned that one last club patch was available.  Springfield Show was covered.  A planned talk about a possible display to go into the NH Environmental Building was tabled.

New  Business: A letter from Molly Horn ( a Franklin High teacher ) was read.  It expressed an interest in having her class become involved with the club.  A letter addressed to Fred Wilda from the club was read by Scott Higgins.  It contained an apology for having produced a flyer without written copyright permission obtained before.  Possible new field trips were brought up.  Saco’s annual show & auction were mentioned.  Future Board meetings will be conducted before regular club meetings.  Refreshment sign-up was passed around.  New  members voted in were Peter & Julie Flint and family,  Stu & Linda Fenton,  Edwin Anderson,  Donald & Linda Kauffman, Donald & Karen Walker.  We now have our own key for the Salvation Army building.

 Anna & Bob Wilken  supplied this month’s refreshments.

 The door prizes were won by Pat Barker, Peter Cram, Denise Cram, John McCrory, Dave Shelton, Howard Ewing, Martin Kippley and Vince Valade.

 This month’s speaker was Steffen Hermanns who presented a talk on the club’s second most favorite mine ( after the Palermo ).  The Eden Mills Mine ( AKA: VAG or Vermont Asbestos Group Quarries ) history, geology,  mining processing and mineral specimens were covered.  Numerous slides presented the quarry layout and references were made to past good collecting areas.  There were also many fine displays from the quarry with the majority of the specimens having been self collected by club members!
