Please note A CLUB MEETING TIME CHANGE for the months of January, February and March: 1:30PM – Second Saturday of those 3 Months only The CMC will meet Saturday, Feb. 14th at 1:30 PM at the Salvation Army Building on Clinton Street in Concord, NH. Our guest speaker for the February meeting will be Gene Bearss. Gene is an accomplished collector of Maine and New Hampshire minerals, including an extensive collection of Franklin, New Jersey minerals which can be attested to by his collection of over 10,000 micromounts. He has also written or helped in several articles, in various mineral magazines and has helped in having at least four new mineral species identified. Gene has given several talks to mineral clubs over the years and will be talking to us on COLLECTING IN MAINE which should be enjoyable. He comes with a real Yankee sense of humor even though he was born in New Jersey. This past summer Gene was inducted into the Micromounters Hall of Fame, an honor few New Englanders enjoy. This recognition is a tribute to his knowledge and support to the mineral community. The displays for this meeting should be on MAINE MINERALS. Anyone who would like to donate a mineral specimen to the club raffle, please bring it with you. Refreshments this month will be provided by Howard & Bea Ewing. The Capital Mineral Club would like to discuss and vote on this year’s UNH Geology Field Camp Scholarship of $1,500. Gordon Jackson has suggested it be in the name of James B. Moore. Mr. Moore was one of the people instrumental in forming the Capital Mineral Club. |
