PRESIDENT’S LETTER

I would like to encourage our membership and especially our new members to come out and join us this year at the Mount Sunapee show, October 5th & 6th. For those of you that have Friday, October 4th off, or can take that day off from work to come and help set up for the show, your efforts would really be appreciated. There will be a buffet style lunch set up for the people that participate. There will be plenty to do Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There will also be a barbecue on Saturday night for members and dealers after the show who want to stay. A small fee will be charged for the meal. This is a good way for the club members to socialize and have fun at the same time. This is our club and our show. With everyone's help we can make it the best one ever.

PRESIDENT: Bill Brown

In Memoriam

Mr. John Sinkankas passed away Friday night, May 17, 2002. Many of us who visited the "old" Smithsonian exhibit will remember seeing the large faceted stone display on the left side of the room which had the vaults containing the Hope and other valuable stones. John cut those stones for the exhibit.

A man of many talents, he truly "wrote the book" on lapidary and will truly be missed, not only by those of us who were fortunate to know him, but by all members of the hobby.

Carl Krotki, who served as EFMLS Treasurer from 1961 until 1972, died in mid July. Carl was a member of the NY Mineralogical Club. Carl is survived by a son.

Sybil Churchwell, who served as EFMLS Treasurer from 1987 until 2000, died after a lengthy bout with cancer. Sybil is survived by two daughters, Brenda and Lynn.
